In this lesson, guitar we take a look at some easy open chords that sound good together. I’ll use guitar tab notation to show you how to play chord progressions. You’ll also learn how to read tablature.
Here’s a guitar tab:

Six lines symbolize the strings of the guitar. On this line, you will find a number indicating which frets press down to play a chord. The top line is the first line, which is a string with a higher step.
Here’s an example with line numbers:
—2——-
——-0—
———–
———–
———–
———–
Number 2 in the first line tells you to click on the first line of the second fret. Number 0 in the second line indicates that you are playing a second line without pressing down fret. This is called a row open-ended.
A-Moll and Fmaj7 first chords, we will use. They can be played as follows:
—0—0—
—1—1—
—2—2—
—2—3—
—0—0—
———–
Now we will move up to two frets Fmaj7 chord, and you get a good sounding chord that can be called A11:
—0——
—3——
—4——
—5——
—0——
———-
If we play together, these three chords you get a chord progression that can be used in many ways. For example, the intro to a song A-moll. The following steps:
–0–0–0–0–0–
–1–1–3–1–1—
—2-2–4–2–2—
—2—3—5—3—2—
–0–0–0–0–0–
————————
We used the chord can be written following chord notation:
S//////A11 Fmaj7//////: Fmaj7
There are many other ways you can change common open chords, just moving them up and maintain open lines of frets sounding along with pressed frets. I suggest that you experiment and discover your own favorite open chords!
