Blizzard’s tributes to defense of the ancients, left 4 dead and Bejeweled are playable, fun and (all) free.

Today, announced at BlizzCon 2010 open ceremonies, the PC developers, that four mini-games to release it would built within the StarCraft II map editor who were at the show available. How keep them if they are actually played? Surprisingly well.

As the name would show, is Starjeweled of Blizzard, immensely popular Bejeweled Popcaps take over. While the standard match-3 game play is as familiar as ever, and Starjeweled (it is too hard, the mess), raises an interesting twist in the mixture by adding an element of RTS. Starjeweled is a competitive title, with each player control over their own base.

Matching gems grunt units at your base, which is March spawning but, against the enemy lines – similar to games like Puzzle Quest, matching gems will also give you resources for larger, stronger units can print. If your opponent only your lines with Marines and zealot is floods, spawning a colossus and a siege tank or fly overhead ground only units with Banshees. Games with large armies in the middle of the show involved conflicting, it is important, evenly divide your attention between the Bejeweled game play and the RTS action – the hustle and bustle, intensive and is surprisingly entertaining.

Expense is head of the and the only one, who owes any inspiration for other video games come member (TV shows, but are another thing entirely). As an aspiring chef, expense, you must be named your skills in cooking – and hunting – triumph over the other to the executor head. As in Iron Chef, each round has a special key ingredient – bananas, to name Pylonade and peanuts – but unlike Iron Chef, the focus is not on the cooking, but for the purchase.

The ingredients on scattered over the map when the camera is fixed and unmovable on your character, which means that you need to explore to find them. Players must interfere with their time between research and your enemies to purchase ingredients share – it is a fun balance, and you need to determine, the fly you’ll which recipes to go for on because different recipes you will give different amounts of points at the end. The most points at the end of the round WINS, and then you get a different secret recipe. It is definitely a unique style, and works best who have more players, you.

When people die links 2, to a shooter a la the valve be expected had game it is inspired by, they are disappointed. It is mission in StarCraft II a co op take on the “outbreak” enemy – colloquially known as “this zombie mission” – where players forces destroy their attention between building structures during the day and defend their base against the undead at night had to share.

How left take “Special attack” 4 dead, left 2 which solves in the mix, as the Hunterling (is it!) and play on the Boomer (vomit corrosive acid on structures and explodes as killed). Special attack to kill and the infested destroy structures rewarded players with biomass, which is used to new structures and units such as the medic, Firebat and perdition turret (a submerging flamethrower turret) research. It may not be a shooter, but the mission “Outbreak” campaign is often called as one of the highlights of the SC2′s from players and press alike – and this co-op version of it are likely to be very popular in the battle.NET.

It’s about custom maps, but not you popular defense of the ancients, to beat the obscene popular Warcraft III mod. Blizzard DotA – officially called Blizzard all-stars – accepts, that single hero gameplay and updated it in the current game. If you’ve ever played DotA, which are there known issues: you have three lanes, you have auto spawning waves of creeps, and you have towers, which need to be danced round and finally accepted. It is restored an item store back at the base, a source of health allows you to combat strength, and a central structure that must be destroyed or defended.

There are currently ten or twelve heroes in the game (with more to the to come), divided the Terran/protoss page and page infested/Zerg – including Warcraft heroes like Sylvanas Windrunner and Muradin Bronzebeard (as well as the Murloc marine and Tauren marine Easter eggs). I took Zeratul, who strongly to sneak attacks is based, blinking in (and out) and exit by enemies damage everything in its path… If that is trade-off, that it is fragile as hell.

Definitely, it works smoothly, and even though it is clearly a work in progress – was it “neutral” on which players experience for one – it could grind no creeps like DotA to should. The balance seems a bit at the moment with certain skills extremely overwhelmed feel (almost a whole wave of creeps kill one who could my basic skills) and on the defensive structures as rather weak. While there are several item shops in the game, there is the cool bit of DotA where you combine and update items, the it feel, you could create your character with a defined goal in sight.

With rather simple corrections are problems, however. The core has Blizzard of all-stars and the soul of the original DotA, is very responsive and has a funny sense of humor. Between this and valves DOTA 2, it is a war on the horizon – and it should be fun to see.

All four mods Blizzard free of charge to all owners of StarCraft II will appear in the coming months.
